About Us

At Resilient Roots, we not only tend to our client’s struggles and trauma, but we also tend to our own. Our core belief is that when clinicians do their own therapeutic work and process, they are better able to show up for the populations and people they serve authentically—creating a safe and trusting environment for all.

Our Providers

Christine Russo MSW LICSW LMHC (she/her)

Hi, I’m Christine, founder and owner of Resilient Roots Therapy. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Adelphi University and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). As an Approved WA Supervisor and EMDR Consultant in Training, I specialize in trauma, EMDR, and eating disorders. I founded Resilient Roots Therapy to provide comprehensive, empathetic care, believing that everyone can benefit from therapy. I am committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where clients can explore emotions, build resilience, and achieve lasting healing. I proudly stand as an ally of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and against injustice and racism.

My top priority is creating a therapeutic relationship where clients can be themselves, free from judgment or shame. I am direct yet supportive, accompanying clients with empathy, humor, and respect. I am passionate about trauma treatment, body- and food-neutral approaches, and supporting individuals with PTSD, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and eating disorders. My eclectic approach incorporates evidence-based practices including EMDR, ACT, ERP, and CBT.

Having experienced the therapeutic process myself, I understand the courage it takes to dig deep. I am glad you are here to begin your healing journey, and I aim to help you feel supported, encouraged, and enough.

Jillian Alexander-Travers MSW LICSW (she/her)

Welcome! I’m truly excited that you’re here, whether you’re taking your first step into therapy or returning after some time, it’s a commendable act of self-care. The client-therapist relationship is the heart of effective therapy, and I’m dedicated to providing a safe and empathetic space for your personal growth. Allow me to introduce myself and my therapeutic approach, so you can get to know me better.

I’m Jillian (she/her, cis-female) and proudly part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. As a qualified therapist, I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) and am licensed as an Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (LICSWA) and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA). My focus lies in helping individuals aged 13 and older, who grapple with anxiety, depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which often hinder them from fully enjoying life’s moments.

My therapeutic practices are rooted in evidence-based approaches including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These methods are scientifically proven to help individuals navigate the complexities of their emotions and experiences.

I have personally benefited significantly from therapy, and it is this experience that has driven me toward a career in counseling. I firmly believe that each client is the expert of their life, and my role is to walk alongside you as we work toward the life you envision – one that’s rich, meaningful, and in alignment with your goals.

I understand the courage it takes to begin therapy and share your inner world with someone. I am here to listen, support, and empower you throughout your journey.

Shelby Snyder MSW LICSW (she/her)

Hi, I’m Shelby (she/her), a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) supporting adolescents, young adults (12+), and adults as they navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and body-image concerns. My approach is warm, grounded, and client-led—focused on creating a safe, collaborative space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported.

I am EMDR trained and incorporate trauma-informed care throughout my work. I also draw from evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, and ACT. I blend structured therapeutic tools with flexibility, meeting you where you are while helping you move toward meaningful, sustainable change. I see therapy as a place to slow down, get curious, and reconnect with yourself—your values, your emotions, and your strengths.

Outside the therapy room, I love kayaking in the summer, listening to audiobooks, doing puzzles, and spending time with my Corgi puppy.
