About Us

At Resilient Roots, we not only tend to our client’s struggles and trauma, but we also tend to our own. Our core belief is that when clinicians do their own therapeutic work and process, they are better able to show up for the populations and people they serve authentically—creating a safe and trusting environment for all.

Christine Russo MSW LICSW LMHC (she/her)

Hi I am Christine, the founder and owner of Resilient Roots Therapy, holding a Master’s in Social Work from Adelphi University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). As an Approved WA Supervisor and an EMDR Consultant in Training, I have specialized expertise in trauma, EMDR, and Eating Disorders. I established Resilient Roots Therapy with the mission of providing comprehensive and empathetic care to all individuals, believing that everyone can benefit from therapy. I’m dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where clients can explore their emotions, build resilience, and achieve lasting healing. I am a proud ally of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and stand against injustice and racism.

My number one priority in working with clients is to create a therapeutic relationship that allows clients to be themselves and create a space without judgment or shame. In my personal and professional life, I am direct yet supportive and enjoy accompanying others through empathy, humor, and respect. I am passionate about providing trauma treatment, working from a body and food-neutral perspective, as well as with those who struggle with PTSD, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, and eating disorders. In practice, I use an eclectic approach to therapy, including evidence-based practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

I have a deep sense of gratitude for the therapeutic process and the impact it has had on my own life. I know what it is like to sit in the “client seat” and be asked to dig deep. I am happy you are here to start your own healing journey. I know that our work together can leave you feeling supported, encouraged, and enough.

Jillian Alexander-Travers MSW LICSWA LMHCA (she/her)

Welcome! I’m truly excited that you’re here, whether you’re taking your first step into therapy or returning after some time, it’s a commendable act of self-care. The client-therapist relationship is the heart of effective therapy, and I’m dedicated to providing a safe and empathetic space for your personal growth. Allow me to introduce myself and my therapeutic approach, so you can get to know me better.

I’m Jillian (she/her, cis-female) and proudly part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. As a qualified therapist, I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) and am licensed as an Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (LICSWA) and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA). My focus lies in helping individuals aged 13 and older, who grapple with anxiety, depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which often hinder them from fully enjoying life’s moments.

My therapeutic practices are rooted in evidence-based approaches including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These methods are scientifically proven to help individuals navigate the complexities of their emotions and experiences.

I have personally benefited significantly from therapy, and it is this experience that has driven me toward a career in counseling. I firmly believe that each client is the expert of their life, and my role is to walk alongside you as we work toward the life you envision – one that’s rich, meaningful, and in alignment with your goals.

I understand the courage it takes to begin therapy and share your inner world with someone. I am here to listen, support, and empower you throughout your journey.

Sabrina Johnson MSW LICSWA (she/her)

I obtained my Master of Social Work (2022) from Eastern Washington University, Washington, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (2013), and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (2013) from Washington State University, Washington. I practice under the laws of the State of Washington and the ethics code of the National Alliance of Social Workers. I’m proudly a part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

Over the last decade, I have worked with individuals struggling with substance use, homelessness, poverty, mental health stability, and integration back into the community after incarceration. My professional experiences working with individuals with a variety of backgrounds has greatly impacted my development as a social worker and has made me a well-rounded clinician.  I have found great passion in my work and empathy towards those I work alongside with.  I strive to create a space that is welcoming, safe, and respectful.

My approach to therapy incorporates strengths-based, person-centered, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral therapy. My focus is helping individuals ages 18 and older on a variety of issues including grief/loss, depression, anxiety, LGBTQ+, peer struggles, employment-related, career counseling, professional burnout, life adjustments, life transitions, adjustment disorder, relationship issues, relationship trauma, and coping skills. I am EMDR trained and utilize that within my therapeutic approach.  I view counseling as a collaborative effort to help individuals recognize their strengths, identify needs, understand conflicts, discover new options, set personal development goals, and make informed choices that are congruent with their values.

I value the impact that counseling has on my life and journey. I’m looking forward to working with you to find healing and improved wellness, and creating a life you picture that is empowering and meaningful.
